Quarter degree square: 1831D4 and 1831D2 Country: Zimbabwe Habitat: Woodland, sandy habitats, river bank vegetation and stream sides Altitude range: 1010-1070 Annual rainfall: Location (short): The area surrounding the Makurumure (Ruzawi) Falls on the Ruzawi River. Location (detailed): Care is needed from a recording point of view, as the boundary line between Quarter Degree Squares 1831D2 and 1931D4 passes very close to the Falls. |
This location is an example of a middle-altitude habitat next to a river, thus providing some sandy and aquatic habitats. The area was first visited by the Tree Society on 14 August 1993, and an account of that visit can be found in Tree Life 163". From that account, it seems clear that some of the records from that day are missing. The location was visited by Rob Burrett on 31 August 2026 who kindly provided pictures of the Falls and also a record of Limosella australis.
