About the website

This site provides information about the flowering plants and ferns of Botswana. This is one of 6 e-floras which cover the Flora Zambesiaca area in south-central Africa. Five countries are now covered, namely Botswana, Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia and Zimbabwe. The 6th e-flora deals with the Caprivi Strip, which is part of Namibia.

The principal contributors to the site are Bart Wursten, Petra Ballings, Meg Coates Palgrave and Mark Hyde.

As of today, Sunday, 18 February 2018, we have 2,848 native or naturalised species in the database for Botswana. There are 11,417 images for 1,520 species, of which 1,520 are native or naturalised and 0 are purely cultivated.
