Description: |
Perennial herb up to 30 cm high, growing from a swollen tuber. Leaves lanceolate, up to 8 cm long, usually with 4 pairs of lateral veins; margin subentire to slightly toothed, wavy. Flowers brilliant orange-red with a dark red throat; corolla tube cylindric,16-20 mm long; lower lobe enlarged, nearly circular. Fruit up to 35 mm long, 4-winded and with a narrow, almost needle-like beak, suffused with purple when ripe. |
