Description:	Much-branched shrubby perennial, up to 1.5 m. Stems and branches covered in minute velvety hairs. Leaves opposite, ovate-lanceolate, dark green above, paler below, gland-dotted. Flowers pendulous, strongly scented. Calyx bell-shaped; corolla dark purple-brown, velvety on the outside; lip broadly 3-lobed. Fruit encased in the inflated remains of the calyx.

Derivation of specific name:	rhodesiana: of Rhodesia (Zimbabwe, or sometimes Zambia)
Habitat:	In dry open woodland, often on stony ground.
