Succulent shrub up to 40 cm high, forming a dense mass of rather fleshy leaves and stems, with an underground rootstock. Leaves sessile; lamina linear to very narrowly obovate, glaucous or green, shiny above, glabrous, dull beneath, pubescent. Flowers usually appearing with the leaves. Corolla bright scarlet or red to pink; tube yellowish; lobes apiculate. Fruit pale grey, 10-11.5 × 1 cm. Seeds with tufts of hairs. |
