Description: |
Prostrate or twining perennial herb with several annual stems up to 3m long, growing from a woody taproot. Leaves palmately 3-5-lobed almost to the base, up to 11 × 14 cm, appressed hairy above, woolly below with stiff yellowish hairs on the veins; margins entire to ciliate. Flowers in axillary few-flowered heads, on a peduncle up to 12 cm long. Corolla funnel-shaped, up to 3 cm in diameter, magenta-purple, mauve, rarely cream or white with a darker centre. |

Derivation of specific name: | magnusiana: although magnus means large or great, the reference is unclear since this is not a particularly large species, nor in plant size or flower size. It is possible that the ending "-iana" indicates reference to a name. |
