Description:
Prostrate or trailing annual or sometimes perennial. Stems up to 3 m, covered in long, yellowish bristly hairs. Leaves palmately-pedately 7-9-lobed, cordate at the base, thinly hairy on both surfaces. Flowers in few-flowered heads on long (up to 15 cm) peduncles. Corolla funnel-shaped, white, pink or purple with a darker throat. Capsule ovoid, glabrous.
Notes:
Derivation of specific name: pes-tigridis: a tiger's foot, referring to the shape of the hairy leaves.
Habitat: In savanna scrub, grassland, cultivated ground and forest margins.
Flowering time:
Worldwide distribution: West and East Africa to South Africa, Mascarene Islands, Tropical Asia and Malaysia.
