Description: |
Perennial herb up to 20 cm high with a short woody stem growing from a pyriform tuber. Leaves lanceolate, up to 6 cm long, usually pinnatilobed and with 5 pairs of lateral veins. Flowers red-purple with a cylindric tube 25-50 mm long, limb 30-45 mm in diameter; lobes with darker stripes leading to the dark red throat; lower lobe enlarged. Fruit ovate to rotund, 4-winged, 18-22 mm long, without a beak. |
