Description:
Perennial aquatic herb. Stems hollow, up to 4.5 m, densely covered in adventitious roots. Leaves up to 8 cm, paripinnate with 16-26 pairs of leaflets; leaflets oblong to linear-oblong, 9-25 mm long, hairless, blue-green; margin entire or finely serrate. Flowers solitary in the leaf axils, yellow. Fruit 1.5-5 cm long with a tuberculate ridge around the margin.

Habitat: Floating on the water surface in slow-moving rivers, ponds and floodplains.

Worldwide distribution: DR Congo, Tanzania, Mozambique, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana and Caprivi Namibia.
