Literature: "Stapeliads in Rhodesia" by D.C.H.Plowes, Excelsa No 1, 1971. He comments appropriately "...numerous transparent whitish curly hairs are each tipped with a minute clear glistening pearl". Comment: although now classed as "Critically endangered", this was not the case in Nuanetsi in 1964, and hopefully will still be so now. As can be seen from image number 1, flowering was prolific.

Few seen due to nature of habitat, but probably fairly common. Flowering time Photo taken February 1965, but I have seen them flowering in same general area as early as December.

Not common; in a restricted area. Literature: "Stapelieae from South Tropical Africa, I" L.C.Leach, Journal of South African Botany, Vol 31, Part 3, July 1965. This appears to have been the fourth record in the country.
